Smart Grid to Business
Smart Grid to Business
Reducting the peak demand at critical time of the year while maintaing the business operations
Planning energy investment and procurement is getting harder with the variety of rates and technololgies.
Governement and shareholders requires asset carbon and energy performance disclosure
We solve energy management problems by engineering software solutions.
The company is owned by a group of passionnate engineers and programmers.
David Beauvais dedicated the last 23 years to power system modernization.
Alterum is a web application used for energy, GHG and energy cost performance assessments. The software includes the decarbonization plans of a corporation, a family and a community, each in a separate confidential workspace available to share or keep internally. The tool adapts the energy, electrification and GHG plans according to each organization compliance requirements.
The solution is deployed in more than 50 municipal governments, utilities, public and private organisations.
The company owns exclusive right of SOCPRA Science et génie S.E.C. patents applicable to peak system balancing and peak demand reduction.
This technology builds an overlay network over the Internet for energy information quota sharing of customer loads with innate storage potential, allowing grid operators, and facility managers to enable faster setpoints, to meet internal process, comfort and grid operational objective.
The technology was develop at the University of Sherbrooke, was tested at CanmetEnergy (Natural Resources Canada) and is now made available commercialy by SG2B inc.
Nimbee was dedicated to optimizing the thermal and electric storage in microgrids. The tool also included 5-step workflow for electricity Load plans, Demand-Side Management (DSM) plans, Distributed Energy Resouces (DER) plans and Optimization.
The software development started in Fredericton, New Brunswick, and the first client was Public Services And Procurement Canada, in Gatineau (Ottawa region). We modelled the electricity network of 73 arctic communities and provides software and information for budgeting more than 400 M$ in fuel subsidies every year, and replacing with renewable energy projects.
The web application called electrifier.io aimed at automating the preparation of decarbonization and managing municipal programs. The objective was to include grid capacity information with GHG reduction plans to validate the peak demand addition on feeders connected in a municipality.
The team prepared community energy and emission information workflow, according to the PCP Protocol sponsored by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.
The tool was made available for all 5000 municipalities of Canada and was replaced by a more user-friendly interface and a better software engine, Alterum.
SG2B Monitor software aimed at managing thermal loads to reduce the peak. In Collaboration with l'École Polytechnique, we instrumented 15 buildings AEON Heavy Duty Switches, Stelpro, Radio Thermostat, Schneider and Google thermosats to manage the peak demand, using Smart things Zigbee/Zwave routers (now Samsung).
With this deployment, we tested the capability of existing water heaters and baseboard thermostats controllers to be part of demand response program. We tested load detection, optimization and response with congestion information from NB Power 12 kV feeder.
The tool was deployed in homes in Quebec and in New Brunswick, Canada.
